This stinking rash will not go away!!! Any thoughts? Can't remember how long I've been OFF doxycycline and taking the prx. anti-yeast stuff (can't remember the name).
Comes and goes. Doc had no ideas. Spreads to different areas. Looks mostly like a topical dermatitis type reaction, but haven't changed any soaps, etc.
VERY ITCHY! Little patches of red bumps. Doesn't seem related (better or worse) with anything I eat.
Thoughts? Or what to do? LLMD told me to go to local Dr. Whom I now believe is completely blowing me off! Didn't even really look at it.
Dermatologist?

P.S. LLMD first thought it was a herx or reaction to the doxy. I think it could be related to the doxy, but it actually started 2 weeks before I started the antibx. It spread like wildfire after taking that.
It seems to "dry up"/not itch and then will get a new patch around the same spot that continues itching. But, it's all over my body. Flares up at different times.
So, I'm not currently taking anything or treating lyme in anyway. I've been off doxcy for two weeks plus. Benadryl/cortisone cream/ivy dry/calamine...nothing helps or makes it go away. Taking benadryl every night...wake up itching with new spots.

I've been getting rashes for three years off and on.
Had two biopsy, blood test, lots of doctors...no one has a clue, I gave up asking along time ago.
Good luck!

Could be Morgellons or anything.
Many lyme patients get all manner of rashes on treatment.
Coconut oil and loads of treatment helped mine. Rubbing lemon juice in Epsom soaks helps too.
I have used Clindamyacin gel also.

I started getting that rash a few months ago. Even thought it was poison ivy, but I wasn't exposed to it and it wouldn't go away using stuff to draw it out. My llmd thinks it might be related to bartonella, but said there are lots of different rashes associated with tick transmitted diseases.

UGH...I have this too! It just came on again for the second time. The dry up thing makes sense... sort of gets hard on the top of the little little bumps at times.
Small roundish patch on my neckline. Itches like crazy but then hurts a bit...
Had it like a month or so ago, then it cleared up, now back again. I put a cream on it the first time... like for fungus things.. but didn't see that it really helped it.
I first thought of yeast... but wondering now if this is like a die off thing or ??? Then it's so hot here in AZ, that I thought..hm.. am I having a heat rash? haha.
If it's still there this week, I'm going to show my LLMD at my appt! Will see what he says!

Your lyme doctor definitely needs to see your lesions. I wouldn't waste my time with a dermatologist, their views are so tainted.
I had just started ABX (injectable Clafaron) when I broke out with a rash like yours. The lesions sting like a bee sting and itch like crazy. I am persistent on scratching so my lesions are slow to heal and all my clothing + bedding have blood on them. A miserable and persistent condition.
I am seeing a lady soon that has a scope that can detect filament under the skin. I bought a little handheld scope at Radio Shack for $13.00 that I use to look at the scabs (gross, sorry) and I see what looks like black dental floss along with some white and red filament ever now and then.
If filament shows it is most likely Morgellon's. A high percentage of lyme patients are likely to get Morgellon's.
I am no expert on Morgellon's, this has just been my experience for the past 6 months. It is devastating, ugly, and painful.
Be prepared to have your family doctor tell you that you need to see a Psychiatrist and admit for your delusions. This is not a delusional condition. I spent a week in 2 different psych units and they could not help and I could tell they knew nothing of the disorder.
I'm praying your rash is short-lived and just die-off toxins. With the proper detox it should get better in time.
Your will be in my prayers.

Something else on the Morgellon's, I have had as many as 6 different thingey's come from my lesions. I think they change every few weeks. I've had white pimpley-looking stuff, splinter-looking stuff, brown and black micro tiny seeds, black log-looking stuff, and more. This is typical of the ever intelligent bacteria.
I had bio-film form on my lower legs when I took hot showers. I think the bacteria felt threatened and formed this film to protect themselves. It looks like a clear to milky, waxy film. I had anxiety and started tearing at my skin, I could not control the need to rid my body of this stuff.
I hope no one else has this. There is some research going on in Tulsa, OK but I don't think they've discovered much in our favor yet. I am praying the research finds something soon so we can get treatment and not be told we're crazy.

My son has had rashes for the last month. It all started with a reaction to the tegaderm cover on the PICC line, and then really took off all over the body after he started on IV Vanco.
He's off antbiotics, but on resveratrol for the Lyme.
His rashes are going away because his doctor is slamming him with antihistamines. He went to the dermatologist who put him on the antihistamines, and the LLMD rxd even more. He's also taking an OTC called Histame with meals to sweep up histamines in the gut.
It really seems to be helping. Mary

Really interesting about the histamines. Could you give some names of the ones that are scripted?
I don't know anything about how the histamines help, could you explain? How often is it taken?
My LLMD had me on Ivermectin for a couple weeks with no result, lesions just kept coming.
I saw a fibro and fatigue doc in DAL that prescribed Valcyte once a week and said I could take Valtrex as well. What do these do, does anyone know? I haven't started them yet.

tiredmama, Not to throw a monkeywrench in the diagnostic process here, but... have you ever considered that this might be bed-bugs??
I had these small itchy red rash areas that wouldn't quit. Usually in the same areas, but not always. Legs, forearms, torso, etc. Blamed everything under the sun.
Then I caught a li'l, flat brown bug skittering across the sheets 1 morning. Turns out the boxspring frame, down by the metal support, was harboring many 'families'... Eecch!
All Gone now... 2 professional visits & 1 new mattress & boxspring later! :-)
NEVER experienced them before, hence my naivety.

I would guess bartonella based on my experince and what you are saying. I have had this.
I just used calamine lotion to make it itch less. It seems to always go away. Mine often flares during hormonal shifts - period/ovulation. Kathy

We have had all kinds of Bart rashes in my family -
streaks on hips, on back, under arms, stretch marks on thighs, knees, straight little scratches on hands, straight long scratches on back, red bumps (looked like heat rash) that spread all over body, red flat round rash in straight lines on bottom of foot,
and NONE of them had any feeling to them - nothing itched and nothing hurt. I don't think what you're describing is Bart. IMHO
