Does Flagyl treat more than just the Lyme? I just have the most severe herx's with Flagyl, so I was thinking maybe it was killing more than one infection? Or no? I noticed my herx's weren't as bad with Ceftin as they are with Zithro and Flagyl.

Almost everyone has a significant herx with flagyl. It is very effective. It is possible that it may have anti babesia effects since flagyl is an antiprotazoan and babesia is a protazoan infection. I know of one LLMD who uses it along with other meds for babs.

Zith and flagyl together are double intracellular antibiotics and are very effective together for lyme and I would guess babs.

I just finished my 3rd week of treatment. I added flagl on Thur and Fri and now I'm off a week. I didn't appear to herxs too bad after taking it, but I do feel worse today than I've been feeling on Sundays. Does anyone know if Flagyl can be effective after just 2 days?

Nellers78, I hope you are feeling better soon, I'm a praying person too! Prayers for you!

I had a severe herx with flagyl last month. I take it just 2 days out of the month as well - on Thurs and Fri of my 3rd week of treatment and then I'm off antibiotics for a week. From what I felt, I think it can be effective after just 2 days. It took me my entire antibiotic break to recover from flagyl.

I could not lift my head or arms, major balance issues, complete confusion/disorientation, could not focus eyes, entire body weakness/lack of coordination.

could those symptoms be from the drug itself and not a herx? That drug is brutal.

This is a huge learning process, isn't it? Learning what works for our own bodies, what is too hard and so forth.

Right now I'm only on Flagyl and am seriously only taking a sliver each day. My CFS symptoms are quite bad today, so I'm going to skip it tomorrow to give my body a break.

At least I know it's working!

Brandi, seriously thank you so much for the prayers! I'll be saying one for you tonight too.

jwall, that sounds more like neurotoxic side effects than like a herx.
