I have a picc line and it does not hurt. It was a little uncomfortable for a few days but now I don't even notice it. It goes in a vein and right up close to the heart but not in it.

nope doesn't hurt at all, just for the first few days at the insertion site. I had more pain from the sticky dressing being ripped off.

It is inserted to just above the heart, in a blood vessel called the Superior Vena Cava.

There should be no sensation as long as it is not inserted too far, which could cause palpitations/fluttering.

Your veins have no feeling.

The high blood flow to the heart allows the medication to be quickly diluted (so it doesn't irritate the vein) and distributed through the body.
