Just wondering if anyone knows how accurate the babesia fish test through Igenex is?
I dont have alot of money but I really feel I need to do this test to make sure I dont have it and hindering my treatment. But I also need to know how accurate it is

I have a positive FISH assay, also high titers for babesia as well. I would imagine, since it is the viewing of the actual parasite in your blood cell, that it would be completely accurate. I mean, either it is there or it isn't, right? (I could be wrong.)
Also, I have medicare and it paid for this for me, so I didn't have to weight the cost issue. Sorry you do.

All coinfection tests are not acurete per my LLMD and hi is against spending money on them no metter where you test for coinfections and no matter what test they are less then 50% positive and remember they test only one ore two strains of babesia and bartonella so you have to have those strains to have that 50% chance of testing positive for them. So do it only if you have money. And Lume test by Igenex he told me is 98% sensitive.He treats all his patients for coinfections no matter positive or negative for the coinfections.

There are a lot of different strains of babesia, and the tests are only sensitive to one or two of them. So even if you were to test negative, you wouldn't know for certain that you don't have babesia. I tested negative using IGenex IGM/IGG and Fish, but my doctor treated me for it anyway. I had mild symptoms of babesia which responded to treatment. I'm still trying to get rid of it completely
