Can someone explain to me why I feel 10x worse with Lyme symptoms the day after eating foods high in sugar, and breads, pastas, chips etc .?? And no, I do not have any food allergies.

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.
"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."
Five Steps to Candida Elimination:
1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.
2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]
3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]
4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]
5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

- Those with lyme are also much more at risk of developing diabetes so it's imperative that simple sugars are banished. But NO ONE should be eating simple sugars - no one.
We have hundreds of wonderful healthful foods from which to choose. Hundreds, if you count all the varieties of vegetables in each category. Then, add fresh spices and garden herbs and you can have thousands of menu variations. Thousands.
All within the "whole" food range. -

I've learned what NOT to eat the hard way. I had started the no sugar/low carb diet to reduce the pain symptoms. And it worked. While sticking to it, I would describe myself as just "sore". Not the excruciating pain I've been in lately.
Because I've fallen off the wagon.
I have beat the low sugar/low carb diet tom-tom to death, I think. But for me, it really did work.
Your body turns those simple carbs into sugar..in turn feeding the bacteria. Sugar in any form is your enemy.
It's a hard diet to stick to indefinitely, but well worth the effort.

Vegan, with a Mediterranean flair. Organic.

To adapt: in the rare dishes where she uses wheat flour, it can just be left out for a fruit medley, etc. Brown Rice Pasta can be substituted (Tinkyada or Trader Joe's). Quinoa and the dark rices can also be used.
But she focuses mostly on very filling vegetable dishes and garden herbs.
Regarding her use of brown rice syrup, just leave it out and add a touch of stevia at the end.

MEDITERRANEAN DIET (minus the wheat and the wine) is also good. It's many vegetable based, with delicious herbs in the meat dishes. Quinoa, dark rices - and unsweetened pomegranate juice can be substituted.
Look up Black Forbidden Chinese Rice & the Red Bhutanese Rice. The nutritional content is excellent and these will help fill and fortify you, even in moderation, along with lots of vegetables.

My doc wonders if perhaps I may even have food allergies/ sensitivities and plans to have me tested through neuro science lab. Anyone have experience with this??
