My daughter had her picc removed today due to pain and redness. The line was full of puss as they pulled it out. The iv nurse said she thought they would keep by daughter for observation.
The ER doc had a temporary line put in her other arm and just sent her home to do her normal rocephin. I questioned him about using something different for the picc infection and he said not until the cultures come back in a couple days.
Does this seem normal?
I have left messages with LLMD but it is the weekend and I am stuck with the arrogant ER docs who don't believe my daughters cdc positive lyme test and can't believe she's not well after years of abx.
Any suggestions? I am worried.

It's good that you called your LLMD... These idiots in hospitals don't get it. Can't totally blame them, they aren't taught these things, and they're overworked and sleep deprived....

Went back to ER today due to daughter's chest pain upon waking up this morning. We were afraid of clot. Both LLMD and home nurse said to go back so we did.
This time the ER team was great. Thankfully her xray and ct scans were clear. Enzymes were all good too, so we are back home.
Done with IV and back to oral abx. Hope and pray we find the right combo for her.
Just got Fry results which show rare hemobartonella, so not sure how we will treat since daughter has done rifampin for over 6 months twice in 3 years along with zith then mino and went from flagyl to tinidazole.
Thanks for the support from this board and all the shared experiences which I have been utilizing all this time. It is comforting to have other's experience to draw from.
