I just gave birth to twins 3 weeks ago. So far they have been very healthy. I was on amoxicillin & zithromax for most of my pregnancy ( I was diagnosed with chronic lyme at 15 wks pregnant with no co-infections). My question is for those of you that have children with symptoms of congenital lyme, when did you start noticing symptoms in your baby that something was wrong? What type of symptoms? At what age did you get the baby tested for lyme disease?
My LLMD told me not to worry about getting the babies tested for lyme, but to just be on the look out for any alarming sign such as constantly being sick, etc.
I worry all the time that every little cry my children have has something to do with lyme...I know I am just being paranoid for now but would like to know what other moms have gone through.
I greatly appreciate any feedback!
Thanks =)

I just had a baby boy in May and was diagnosed with Lyme the month that I found out I was pregnant. I was not treated for my entire pregnancy (due to complicated circumstances with finding llmd). I, too, was paranoid about the Lyme and thank God, he was born healthy. I did find an llmd and saw her last month. We decided to go ahead and treat him because the rate of transmission is so high that I didn't want to risk him having lyme and it getting worse, even through the symptoms may not show up until later. She said since he is so young that he will be on amoxil for a little while and then should be fine. I know that if you are on treatment for the entire pregnancy, there is supposed to be little chance of transmission, but I am not sure about if you are not for the beginning of the pregnancy.
