I am testing IGM and IGG positive for Erlichiosis, positive for EBV, CMV, HPPV6. Global hypoperfusion and white T2 abnormalalities. I've finally been diagnosed with chronic lyme after maybe 20 years! Unexplained ITP, NK cells (3) and CFS - 15 years ago!

I've been on antibotics with my LLMD Dr. B (Albany)for 1.5 years. I had IV Cef for 5 months and went off due to finances (relapsed 2 weeks after the 5 months). I now have the financial resources to continue IV and my LLMD is recommending another 6 mths - 1 year of IV cef.

Here is my questions and quandry - for all you chronic lyme patients who have been on IV for long periods of time (6 mths - 1 year) did it make you better? And, how fast did time wise did you relapse.

I appreciate all of your help answering this question. It is a very difficult painstaking decision to make! Not to mention health consequences and the possible complications!

Please just answer the following 3 questions and suggest recommendations from your experience.

Time on IV Cef or Rocephin?
How fast did you relapse?
Would you recommend and do it again?

Sincere Thanks,

Chris - Very Chronic Neurological Symptoms and Getting Worse

Two months on IV Rocephin relapse after 2 months.

If at the time somebody told me to treat cyst form with flagyl and also co infections i believe it will got me free of lyme.

Do it it will help but take flagyl to for the cyst form while on rocephin.

Treat co infections to .
IV is the fastest way to results but is more expensive and less convenient.

What about RIFE or BIONIC 880, or something similar ?

Why not do both, alternatives and IV antibiotics? Also, if you don't see progress with Rocephin you can switch to other meds. There is no reason for an all or nothing strategy with Lyme.

Since you are still sick I would highly recommend that you do all you can to get back on some kind of treatment ASAP.

With the site acting up yesterday I see my post is gone.

In my opinion a relapse in 2 weeks after stopping IV rocephin is a very strong indicator of possible bartonella coinfection.

And if you do in fact have bartonella even 10 years of IV Rocephin will not cure you -- you need to treat the bart specifically while continuing to treat lyme.

The ehrlichia and potential bart should both respond to a combo such as mino or doxy plus rifampin. But to really get rid of bart also need to add in one of the fluroquinolones such as cipro or levaquin or factive.

I would try orals first and save the IV for later to wipe out the lyme after coinfections have been eradicated.

This is not medical advice, just my opinion based on hubby's experiences.
