I feel I would be a wonderful candidate for LDN. As far as I know, I have to talk to my doctor about it,

get a prescription for the doses, and then take that prescription to a compounding pharmacy (have

already located one) to get it filled in those doses... Is that really it?

What I am also wondering is, what do you take for pain?!

I rely on hydrocodone, which I know I cannot take while on LDN, as it is opioid-based. But what else is

there for severe, incapacitating headaches? I cannot go to the ER every time I get one of these (which

is every week, at this point in my illness), so what do you all take for severe headaches while on LDN,

that has the efficacy of opioid pain relievers?

Thank you for any input

Have you tried smoking pot? If you can't smoke it then perhaps try eating it in some kind of baked goods. It is legal where I live.

What is LDN used for? What symptoms do you need to have it prescibed?

There are compounding pharmacies who know where you find the doctor for the prescription.
You will get all help at [email protected].

Please post there for pharmacies LDN in your area.
If you cannot find one locally please pm me. They can ship all over the country.

The pharmacist f.e. at Skip's are the best to give information as they deal with LDN every day.

It can be prescribed for inflammation, lupus,
cancer, infections....

My headaches are eliminated by imitrex but I take it as soon as I feel one coming on. Imitrex is for migraine, which I get and confused with the bart headaches but they help with it as well. It is generic now so not so expensive. It is worth the try.

I get severe headaches from Babesiosis. Do you have it?

Low-dose Amrix is the only thing that seems to help my headaches. I do not know if it is safe to take with LDN though. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Double check to be sure, but I think Darvocet is OK to use with LDN. Not sure if that will work for your pain.

Tylenol can be used, but again, that may not be strong enough.

I would use one of the recommended compounding Pharmacies from the lowdosenaltrexone.org website.

It is often compounded wrong by inexperienced pharmacies, so that is important.

I use "The Compounder" in Aurora Illinois.

I've been on LDN since day 1 of treatment. 4.5mg / night.

Janice...Naltrexone, 50mg standard dose, is a drug they give to opiate addicts to help block the high and get off the drugs (heroine, oxycontin, and other poppy/opium based drugs.

Research has shown that an ultra low dose of this, such as less than 10% of the total, is effective for chronic illnesses such as lyme, MS, HIV, etc.

The theory is this. You take the Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) at bedtime. Doses are 2mg up to 4.5mg. Go to sleep. The LDN blocks endorphins in your brain between 2 and 4 am (when they are usually produced.) The result is your body thinks it needs to produce more endorphins than you really do..this has a positive effect on strengthening your immune system.

There are no side effects other than perhaps a little insomnia the first few nights (I had none.)

Some people herx as their immune system is stimulated and it kills bugs. I believe you can go to http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/
