She has not been diagnosed with Lyme, but had a sinus infection. She has been on Augmentin since Oct 8th. Her belly still hurts, her private is itchy and she has been having diarrhea. She also has had a few accidents of the diarrhea leaking.
Any thoughts on how to help her. I have limited bread, pasta etc

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.
"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."
Five Steps to Candida Elimination:
1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.
2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]
3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]
4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]
5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

She is 5, I have her on probiotic and C and am giving her lots of yogurt. I also give her Kyolic garlic tablets. She is only on this until Thursday.
Her sinus infection seems to be gone, but she is coughing an aful lot. Even after her Albuterol and budesonide treatments with nebulizer.

You need to call her Dr. she could get dehydrated from the diarrhea. She may need a different antibiotic. She has a vaginal yeast infection he needs to prescribe medication for. Bless her heart she must be miserable. I know you must be exhausted from all this. Hope you get some rest soon.

Garlic can cause diarrhea, nausea, and vomitting in overly generous doses.

I would try stopping the garlic. My 6 year old couldn't tolerate it...gave him gastritis pain in his stomach. My other son could tolerate it fine. Everyone is different. It can be hard to tolerate for many.
My 4 year old gets external vaginal yeast infections, which is a sign of a systemic yeast infection. I rub TRiple Paste AF cream on her morning and night and give her baths with 12 drops of grapefruit seed extract in it. It helps with the yeast. The GSE is what we are giving her orally as well and it is slowly knocking down her candida. You have to dilute it in juice. I give her 4 drops in 6 oz of juice twice a day with meals. That should be more effective than garlic against the yeast.
Hope this helps,

Oh- and the augmenten can cause tummy problems for some as well. You might also try stopping that to see if the stomach pain goes away. It might also be the cause of the diarrhea. You don't want to stay on a med if it is causing stomach upset.

I would call her doc right away for something for yeast to get it down quick.
And a doses of something to keep it down.
It can cause extreme illness and death if not taken serious.

fflutterby, I'm concerned about the cough. I can't remember if it was one of her sinus infection symptoms? Does she have allergies and asthma? Is she wheezing too? It really sounds like she needs to see the doctor again. Especially since she is not finding relief with the nebulizer treatments.
If the cough is chronic then she may need to be evaluated by a pulmonologist.

Related to the cough... has she been tested for Chlamydia Pneumonia (no, nothing to do with genitals- just the spp name). Many folks with Lyme end up with it. Just a thought.

Thanks all, her chest is clear. No weezing at all. The Pediatrician says the cough is from post nasal drip. It is starting to clear. We actually stopped the neb and are using the pulmicort pump now.
Her bowels were good yesterday. No itching down there. I stopped the garlic and made sure she took at least 3 acipolpholis, and two servings of yogurt.
She see's her pulmonologist tomorrow. She also told her Daddy that she likes to tell me she is worse because she likes the extra attention from Mommy, lol. So she may be playing me...
What anti virals can we give a 5 year old ?? Can we detox them?

I would not be afraid of Virgin Coconut oil for a child, but I would try a pinch first to test for reactions/herx, and ramp up slow.
I believe if you are loaded with virus' it can hit you hard enough to put you in bed.
You might ask your doc if the detox products athletes use could be dose appropriate.
They are mostly multiple B vitamins to give cells fighting power after strenuous exercise to get rid of poisons...

. . . Leah Feazel, who led the three-year study, says 30 per cent of the shower heads studied housed significant levels of a micro-organism linked to lung disease. . . .
. . . mycobacterium avium in a significant number of shower heads. Mycobacterium avium can cause tuberculosis-like disease in people who are immune compromised.
"If you are prone to infections, so if you have an immune disease of some sort, which is HIV or AIDS or cystic fibrosis, or if you're on immune-suppressing drugs then yes, you are at risk in the shower," she continued.
"If you're a healthy person with a healthy immune system, you don't need to worry at all. You've been showering every day of your whole life and you haven't been sick."
And Ms Feazel says cleaning the shower heads does not reduce the amount of bacteria.
"We tested bleaching shower heads and we actually found that we had more of the mycobacteria after bleaching than we did before," she said. . . .
. . . The researchers sampled shower heads in cities across the United States, including Manhattan, Memphis and Chicago. Ms Feazel says there were nine cities in seven states, and 45 shower head sites. . . . . -

Sudden allergies are very common in Lyme.
It goes away with treatment.

Glad to hear that the chest x-ray came back clear. That's good to know. Is your daughter taking an antihistamine (like Benadryl) to try to dry up and help relieve the post nasal drip? It might be worth a try if your doctor has not already prescribed one.
About the cat, if you've had it for awhile it is highly unlikely that she is allergic to it. You would have noticed symptoms long before now. Some people even become desensitized to pet allergies when they are around pets often enough. (Has happened to 2 of my family members). Of course if she had a major pet allergy that triggered hives and trouble breathing then it would be best to avoid that trigger and find a new home for the cat.
Many people have seasonal or environmental allergies. Spring and fall are hard seasons for me. My biggest triggers are increased pollen, molds that grow from all the rain, molds that grow on decomposing leaves, dust, etc.
Good luck with the allergy appt. Hope that they are able to help your daughter feel better

Thanks all !
She has always had mild allergies. Excema and seasonal. She does not have Lyme, I just gave her her first dose of Singular. Pulmonoligist gave me a week trial. He said if it works to fill the script.
