Hello all,
It has been awhile since I've asked for any advice... thank Goodness, I haven't really needed it.
But... in the last few weeks, I feel like I am relapsing a tad and was hoping for a little input.
Granted, I did just go through a strenuos move and I am working lots of hours, so I suppose a small setback was in order.
Recent symptoms consist of fatigue, headaches, muscle cramping, shortness of breath, severe allergy attacks, a bit of night sweats and just general all over soreness and aches.
I am suspecting Babs and Borellia are causing this, but am not too sure how to go about a maintenance protocol at this point. I have been off all meds for several months and do NOT want to hit this so hard that things get stirred up even worse.
Sooo, any advice? Should I try to do a general detox thing? Or hit a few antibiotics and antiparasitics at low dose?
I know I should know the answer to this by now... but I am really at a loss as to how to proceed. Any thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome!
Thanks in advance, Melanie

Sorry to hear you are having some symptoms again.
I would try some detox first. Last year we thought my husband was relapsing. He began having fatigue and migrating body pain. He looked like he was sick too.
My first reaction was get back to your LLMD but he didn't want to. He went to the chiropractor for neck pain and he recommended a deep tissue massage.
He began weekly deep tissue massages for the elbow pain, then neck pain, back pain. The day after each one he felt horrible like a herx. By week four he felt great and has been great ever since,
He had to take heavy duty abx this summer for something else and he felt fine which tells us he is in great shape.
So this could be a good starting point.
I hope you bounce back quickly!

hi (((Melanie))).
I'm happy to hear that you have been away so long because you've been better.
It's also good news-- you know what I mean, I hope, even if this sounds strange-- that you have been removed enough from the daily Lyme treatment battle to not be precisely sure of what to do next.
To answer your question, i just have a guess, and that is to not go the abx route as a first option, for fear of stirring that pot you mention.
Perhaps detox, some serious REST (a daily complete time-out, including from all media) and if you can afford it, some serious pampering for a few weeks, including the best, healthiest food you can buy and at least one full acupuncture treatment to relieve stress.
Take care-- hugs, Dill

Hi Miss Melanie!!
Glad to hear you've been away, and sorry you had to come back for advice.
One quick question - how's your diet been during the last few months? Been grabbing at the first thing you see while you've been busy? Falling off the diet wagon will kick up yeast and inflammation - which will result in symptoms you mention.
If your diet's been clean and your tongue isn't white, perhaps some immune building is in order. Such as large doses of vitamin C, astralagus, and perhaps D3 as well if you haven't been getting outdoors. And let's not forget the sleep factor - 8 hrs a night is a must.
Hope you feel better!

Thanks Julie, Groovy, Dilly and Unsure. Your replies are so appreciated.
It's true, I haven't been taking very good care of myself lately... just too busy and too unsettled. That inclued not enough rest, not very good food choices, and a little too much stress.
I will have to put a check on all three of those and get back on track now that things healthwise are starting to slip.
Groovy, I scrubbed and scrubbed this place before moving in, but didn't do much with the basement where I do laundry. The living areas are all hard wood but the basement IS older carpeting that needs a good cleaning for certain. Thanks for pointing out that overlooked possibility.
Julie, yes, my diet has gone by the wayside. Definately too many sodas, carbs and other processed junk. I can feel the yeast and inflammation getting the upper hand. Thank you for the reminder!
Hey Dilly, yes, it is nice to be able to concentrate on other things besides my health. But this is an important lesson to learn too. I guess, we are still a bit compromised even when feeling better. I'll try the least invasive route first and see if that helps- thank you!
Thanks Unsure, that is very encouraging news about your husband! Massage sounds heavenly, hmmm...

This is my first post. I'll introduce myself properly on a new thread later.
I read your wonderful information on skin manifestations of Lyme. I could have beeen looking at pics of myself, splayed toes and all! During your recovery did your skin clear up too?

Hey Ali,
Welcome, and sorry I didn't see this until now. It sounds like you have been doing some reading- good for you because you will need to educate yourself as much as possible!
I'm so sorry that you are experiencing skin issues as well, but I do want to say that most of mine HAVE gotten much better with continued treatment.
I no longer turn blue or mottled. The edema has completely subsided and the dark circles under my eyes have mostly disappeared. My wrinkled hands are not as bad as before, but have not gone back to my normal state. (At this point, I really don't expect them too)
The 'Bart streaks' have gone away, but the 'Babs cherry angiomas' remain. I still have recurring eczema on my left middle finger... but then all my odd allergies have stayed with me.
Sooo, while my skin has not returned to my pre TBD condition, it HAS gotten much much better then it was a year or so ago. I really do think that IM Bicillin was the best med for me at the time and I am considering restarting it in the near future.
My best to you, Melanie
