Looking for good LLMD neuro and dermatologist that might know about acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans - no other doctor seems to.

Got all testing yesterday with Dr. I in Plainview NY. He was a nice doctor - really spent time with me and listened. [Wink]

Said my history is complicated and extensive - some things have been going on for 4 years.

I had read a British Columbia internet article about Lyme causing sudden severe disabling osteoarthritis - but not much about it elsewhere.

A year after I think this happened, I had a sudden overnight spinal attack - I know that it must be related somehow to the fatigue, stiffness and pain that started the year prior.

So anyway, the dr I met with said, be careful what you read and who wrote it - if not research or dr article, someone else just wrote it about themselves. He has NOT heard of Lyme causing sudden severe osteoarthritis.

The article I had read said the bacteria can go to weak bones or spots in the body so if you sprained or broke an ankle before in life, that ankle might swell more and get worse than other ankle, etc. He said no but I think someone should do research about this.

Something caused it - biopsy could not tell if infection or arthritis but as it was so sudden and I had no prior trauma some kind of infection must have caused it.

So, anyone else who experienced anything like this, please let me know. He sent all blood tests to a good lab - MLA or something. Igenex has you pay upfront - I figured I would do that if this comes back negative.

We will see. Good dr though so thanks for the referral. My western blot from IMUGEN had bands for 41,58 36 and 62 - but lab uses CDC 5 band or it is always 5 band criteria. I have read that dr at BU said if someone has symptoms with band 41 or even 58 I think, dr should assume they have Bb.

Anyone know about this? Please let me know. It was IgG Immunoblot.

Thanks

Hope you all feel better. [group hug]

karmaa55 I sent you a long PM today suggesting Dr. I.

You will get a much better response, if you post these questions in the medical section.

This section is only for finding a doctor. There are many in medical that can offer you excellent advice about lyme specifics.
