Good morning, everyone.

I just got bitten by I-don't-know-what, but have fluctatingly itchy, almost blistery rash around it--and yesterday it did look bull's-eye-ish, though not today.

I know enough Lyme sufferers to know that I shouldn't mess around with this--but none of the doctors we know have a CLUE about Lyme. Some of them don't even know that this is a Lyme-endemic area.

Does anyone have a recommendation or list? (And how long does it take to get an appointment with an LLMD? I would think they'd be pretty booked up...)

Last time I was bitten by a tick (no rash), my primary care doc said he would only order blood work if I developed joint pain (which I did not), and that it would take a couple of months after the bite to show up positive in blood work anyway.

Thanks so much for any info--I'm off to read up on this now (sigh).

Welcome to Lymenet Taximon [hi]

I have sent you everything you need to help you find a good Lyme literate medical doctor (LLMD) and info to learn more about this illness.

Please take a picture the rash, if it is still present, to bring to your first LLMD visit. One should never wait if they have been bitten by a tick but seek treatment immediately and I have explained in my PM to you why.

Please join in our discussion in medical, where we have many members ready to share their experience and knowledge about this illness with you.

Thank you so much, for both the concern and the amazingly fast responses!

I totally agree--better safe than sorry, and I DON'T want to mess around.

The problem is, I don't know that it was a tick that bit me, and I have no symptoms except a rash that only kinda sorta fits, but could also be an allergic reaction to the Neomycin I put on it .

It's not an easy choice here, and reading the reviews of some of the doctors, it sounds like they treat everything like it's Lyme.

Having already dealt with a lifetime of doctors who have wanted to give unnecessary medications with dangerous side effects, I'm not so sure I want to go there unless I know that it's truly necessary.

I hate difficult choices like this....
