I was just diagnosed with Lyme after 1 1/2 years of trying to find out what I had -- despite telling all the docs I saw that I was bitten by something, got a huge welt from it, and weeks later started experiencing tingling and numbness. Because time is of the essence here, could someone offer some suggestions on doctors in the metro Denver area who would be well-versed in treating this? The few infectious-disease docs I called were not members of any Lyme groups.
Much appreciated, V

HI! I am also in Colorado, (Denver), and have chronic lyme (13-14 years). I have been seeing MD's and naturopathic doctors for YEARS now, with no results. The last 2 years, I decided to stop trying, I have no insurance, and was having no luck - I was just frustrated. Unfortunately, I am now at a point where I fear that if I do not get help asap, I may literally die. If ANYONE has a recommendation as to who to see, locally or nationally, I would be FOREVER grateful. I'm only 30, and would love to fix this, if it is even possible. I can't live or die like this anymore. Thanks, guys. Noelle

Missjuniper - Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for CO.
Welcome to Lymenet!
You should write a new post instead of adding on to an existing one, because most people don't re-read old posts, especially ones which are over six years old! That way more people will see it and respond.
You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
I was told doctors in CO do not treat aggressively enough, because CO is extremely tough on any doctor who does. The medical board is relentless on them.
Posters on Lymenet from CO recommend going out-of-state to see a LLMD.
When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.
