To join your online state support group, Phyllis Mervine from CALDA sent us the following information.

The instructions are on http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

You don't join statenamelyme, you just go there for instructions. Or do it this way:

Type your state name and lyme as one word, like this (if you are in NY)-
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/newyorklyme

or this (if you are in Florida)
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/floridalyme

I hope you get the idea.

South Carolina is the only state that needs a hyphen between the statename and lyme, e.g. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/southcarolina-lyme

If you really can't figure it out, you can send me an email directly to [email protected] and I will send you an invitation to the group. Be sure to say which state you are in. But please try to figure it out yourself because I am swamped and might even lose your email!

The CALDA network of state groups is the only online network that is organized by state. The purpose of the individual state groups network is to bring people together within one state, so they can get to know each other and eventually talk and plan events together. Maybe even organize a Lobby Day at their state capitol or draft legislation or change the reporting forms at their state health dept. or meet with their state medical board.

Please join your state group even if you belong to other groups, if only to find out what is going on in your state and maybe even to take part so you can be part of the solution for people with Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

Thank you.
