I'm from VA, actually, but I'm having trouble finding one in VA that works with my insurance, or is actually taking patients. I am willing to travel to MD, DC, and NC, so please PM me if you know of any LLMDs in those areas.

Very few lyme docs take insurance. So, you are really limiting yourself if you make this a requirement. I don't think that is wise.

In general, the best lyme docs don't take insurance, and the doc is the key to getting rid of this disease. I can't emphasize that enough.

Well, I'm definitely going to try for one who takes my insurance first; it would be pretty silly if I didn't.

I know where you are coming from--you are taking the normal point of view that is fine for nearly all medical care. But, it almost always doesn't work with this disease.

Just saying that this disease is difficult to get rid of because it is so extremely complex and not much is generally known about it. Lots of doctors treat lyme disease, but few know how to get rid of it for someone.

Once you try an insurance-taking doctor and find you still can't get rid of the disease, then remember this principle--the best lyme doctors don't take insurance.

And, the best lyme doctors often aren't taking new patients. That's because there is so much more lyme disease than there are good doctors who know how to treat it.

I'm sorry but I am no longer accepting any private messages due to my own battle with lyme.

I'm making phone calls today, but I will go out of network if I need to, but I hear good things about some doctors in my network from this site; just hope they are taking new patients!
