My husband is 42. We live in central NJ. I am positive he has Lymes but today we got the results from a Western Blot as negative. I am frustrated. He has been complaining of joint pain but he's a contractor so I blew it off. I am an optometrist and about 3 months ago I started to treat him for severe dry eye for a couple of months. He is still photophobic with blurred vision. 4 weeks ago he fell asleep at the wheel while driving while I was engaged in a conversation with him. He takes naps during the day and wants to go to sleep at 9 every night. He has no energy. Many nights he wakes up out of his sleep with his heart racing. He is on blood pressure med. A couple/few months ago he had a cold/flu. The past few weeks he's been having trouble focusing mentally and his short term memory is horrible. 2 weeks ago he was extremely thirsty and for a couple of days everything tasted abnormally salty almost metallic. Last week he complained of a toothache. And most recently he's complaining of cramping in the testicles and his sex drive is way down!!! The doctor wants to retest him for Lymes in 6 weeks. I cannot wait that long.
I need an LLMD in central NJ near East Brunswick.

Hi eyedoc ..

So sorry to hear about your husband. I'm in Central Jersey also, and new here as of yesterday. I asked for the name of an LLMD too. I was given these two by someone, but don't know if either is close to me (near Westfield/Summit area)... but this is what was given to me: (PM me for names)

My own story is that I got symptoms of multiple oval rashes about 20 yrs ago, and progressed with a lot of symptoms including severe fatigue, pain everywhere, tmj and others .. as the yrs went by. I'm firmly convinced, after being diagnosed in 1990 with Fibromyalgia, that it's really Lyme!

If you ever want to chat - since we're close.. just let me know.

Best Regards,
Lindy

**edited to remove names of LLMD's ...please do not post names and/or cities of doctors... Only The dr's initial and State. Thanks!***

Hi Lindy,
thanks for your response. I am new to this site as of today. I got so frustrated after hearing the results. The doctor wants to start him on cholest med, testosterone boosting meds, etc. I don't want to treat the symptoms, I want to treat the cause, which in my mind is Lymes. After I called the office a few times today, they finally called my husband back and said they will retest in 6 weeks. I'm not waiting. We live in Monroe Twp. I shop at the Trader Joes near you. I was also given the name of an excellent doc in F.... but that's a far drive. I may check out ...... Not sure yet. I looked up Lymes Disease Assoc. There are some docs on the board from NJ. I will call them tomorrow. It's too late now. I'll keep you posted.

eyedoc ...

I 'feel' your frustration!! It's so annoying when a doctor just tries to calm the symptoms without getting to the foundation of the issue! It's too bad they were taught that way.

I'm excited to hear that you're calling the docs tomorrow. I'll be anxious to get your update. I haven't heard about the doc in Fleminton. Would you mind private messaging me the name?

Small world that you go to the Trader Joes near me! I go there for there Two Buck Chuck!! lol (acually, it's Three Buck Chuck, but still a great price!) [Smile]

Good luck tomorrow!

Welcome, [hi] eyedoc! I have sent you a pm. We're happy to have you.

I'm sorry but I am no longer accepting any private messages due to my own battle with lyme.
