Hi- Im looking for a doctor to help me in the Central/Western MA area, more specifically, the Pioneer valley. I am a 28yr old female who was recently hospitalized for systemic symptoms following a HUGE rash/welt with necrotic center. My lyme titer came back pos. I was given doxocycline for 13 days and am asymptomatic but am concerned for my future well being since I was not given the recommended dose for the recommended time. When I ask my dr. about this, she dismisses it...Thank you in advance for any help and information you can give me.

You can try your state group at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/massachusettslyme

Read up on 2 standards of care and tell your dr you want the "other" standard. What you got was IDSA.
That protocol has a high failure rate. You can find handouts to make the argument on the CALDA website, www.lymedisease.org
