I have been trying to make an appointment with a certain physician now since last Thursday, 07/22. Office hours are Monday,Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30-3:00. Most every time I call (during office hours), I get a recording to call back during office hours or to leave name, date of birth, phone number and a detailed message regarding the nature of the call. I have left my name and number, but they do not return my calls. Yesterday, someone did pick up the phone and I told them I wanted to make an appointment and they asked me my name. I told them and they said, "Oh yes, you called, I have your number...I will have to call you back." No call back yesterday. So I try again this morning and only get the answering machine once again. I waited until noon and called again and was told the same thing. I asked when I could expect them to call me back, and whoever it was that answered the phone told me that she would call back this afternoon and that it has just really been busy yesterday and today (said nothing about last Thursday and Friday when I tried to call). She said she returns all calls in the afternoon and would call me. I still haven't gotten a call back today and honestly will be surprised if I do. Do you think this is a normal or acceptable practice for a medical office? [confused] I am really getting anxious about possibly finally getting some help and this has been extremely frustrating to me.
