I don't even know for sure that I have Lyme, but here is my story.

I started feeling dizzy, weak, and tired mid June. My first diagnosis was sinusitus, from a walk-in clinic, with 2 weeks of antibiotics. This didn't really help, but I felt even worse once I stopped them. I went to see my regular doctor who said I seemed fine and it was probably nothing, but did a routine blood test. Everything came back fine and normal but I was feeling worse. I started getting tingling down my arms and back of neck in addition to the fatigue. I asked them to add Lyme and Mono to my blood tests and both came back negative.

My friend, a vet who has also had Lyme, said they had exactly the same symptoms and I should just ask for Doxy. My regular Dr was on vacation so I went back to the walk-in and they gave me a month of Doxycycline. When my regular Dr came back he said I should go to a neurologist, just in case.

I did this and had an MRI which showed a white spot, so I then had a spinal tap and another blood test. This was 3 weeks since starting the Doxy and actually I was feeling back to normal. The spinal tap made me feel TERRIBLE, though, and I was sick for a week afterward with the bad headache & nausea. During that week I finished the Doxy.

All my blood work and spinal fluid was perfectly normal. Now, a little over a week since I finished the antibiotics, I am feeling my old symptoms coming back. Tingling, dizzy, tired. I'm worried that a month of treatment wasn't enough. My mother had Lyme with Bels Paulsy and was on them for 3 months.

The problem is, my blood tests and spinal tests didn't show any lyme. Could I still have it? My vet friend says a negative test doesn't necessarily mean you don't have it. I never saw a deer tick, but I know I was bitten by a dog tick in the spring. Another friend suggested maybe ehrlichia?

I am frustrated because all my doctors say I am totally fine, but everyone I know who has had Lyme says it sounds exactly like what they went through. I know I am exposed because we live in the woods with lots of deer around and I also ride horses, also in the woods. I want to see a specialist who could hopefully tell me for certain if I have Lyme or some other tick borne disease.

Sorry that was so long! Any advice is welcome!!

Welcome! [hi] We are happy to have you. I sent you a private message (pm), click on the flashing envelope. [Smile]

Also, check out our great "Medical Questions" forum where you can ask all the questions you might have and our wonderful, knowledgeable members will answer them. Just read some of the threads and you'll see just how informative they are!

Due to my issues with lyme disease I am asking that you do not send me any private messages unless it is feedback on a Dr.

I'm sorry that I am not able to respond to any PM's. I will only be sending out lists of Dr's. Thank you for understanding. [Smile] [Smile]

I'm sorry but I am no longer accepting any private messages due to my own battle with lyme.
