Have a back up plan for your dad. Keep the names of llmds in the area on hand. (ill send you them thru pm)
New York Presbetyrian is the only hospitol in the city that i would trust a dr who says that. Because of their affiliations the drs dig whats going on with lyme they may not understand or treat it but they all accept that it is often a cronic illness. Lenox is good hospitol but not for lyme. It can be and G-D willing will be that your dad will heal with a clinical dose of meds..most people i know do..however if G-D forbid he goes on to continue to have problems you must be ready for it.
I wasnt and after 5 months of treatment i received a certified letter "banning" me from the entire facility including urgent care by my "lyme specialist" stating i needed continual medical care and they included the number for the medical society in my area to find someone. (oh and they wished me good luck too lol) NOT 1 "Lyme specialist" or any ID dr.would see me. It took me a while to learn that there were llmds and everyone else wasnt..that was 5 years ago .PLEASE dont let that happen to your dad! TRUST NOONE! pming you names to keep handy
peace, michele

- Ask at the local lyme support groups. Once in a while there is, indeed a good doctor who is a member of BOTH IDSA and ILADS. However, since the treatment guidelines are miles apart - the doctor would have to be closer to one or the other of the treatment methods. That is what you need to find out.
You could meet with him and ask about his knowledge in the field and his philosophy and scope of practice. Maybe a call to the office manager could clue you in on all his professional affiliations.
You might also be able to schedule a 5 minute phone call with the doctor for basic questions on the scope of his treatment.
This is a basic site but you may also search for articles he has written, or coauthored:
I found that same info. I really want to find a Dr who is Lyme Friendly for sure. An IDSA Dr who proclaims he is a specialist in Lyme is probably NOT going to be ILADS.
I did find someone on the list though. But no comments on him.
