my husband was treated for lyme several years ago. He now has symptoms of neuropsychological lyme (anxiety, dpression, obsessive thinking) with an abnormal MRI. He will be starting Rocephin IV probably this week. i am very frustrated and feel the burden of directing his care and coordinatiing services Ie PCP, lyme specialist (internist with his own busy private practice that also treats lyme. I find that if I don't ask the questions I don't get much info from him and he is not quick at returning calls) Mental health provider (God bless her, she is the one who suggested that we consider lyme as the underlying cause of his symptoms),and counselor. His lyme specialist recommended that he consult with a LLMD neurologist but still has not heard back from her since he called her alittle less than 2 weeks ago. I'm considering looking into one of the Boston hospitals that provide lyme treatment (BMC?)in the hopes of getting a multi-disciplinary team approach and add neuro psychologist, ND/nutritionist, and ID doc to the mix.Perhaps I am dreaming. i've seen this done for other conditions, why not Lyme? any of you new englanders found a good team of providers?
Thanks
Linda

Finding help at ANY major hospital IS dreaming.. I'm very sorry to say!

It does sound like you need a REAL LLMD, not a PCP who has his hands full with other things.

I will send you a list of some possibilities.

There are no teams that will treat Lyme in Boston. Do not even bother. Lyme will get you run out of hospitals faster than you can believe. The stress of fighting the medical community is TOO much.

You and the patient will be labeled "crazy" and Munchausen by proxy.

It is all so sad, we are left to figure it out on our own. And then, hope you make the right decisions.

None of us went to medical school, afterall.

Good luck.
