Hi there. I have had lyme for almost four years now, and I am trying to find a new doctor. My case is very complicated. I had been seeing Dr. C in NY for about 3 years, and he had put me on many different abx combinations including doxycycline, mepron, zithromax, biaxin, ceftin, IV rocephin, flagyl, and penicillin, all for extended periods of time. When I didn't get the results I wanted, I went to a hyperbaric oxygen center in NY and had an extremely adverse reaction to the treatment. Whereas I only had normal lyme symptoms (fatigue, difficulty thinking, headaches) before the HBOT, the HBOT triggered much more severe symptoms. I now have a sensation of very distinct, very strong pushing and piercing movements in my brain 24/7. It feels as if things are digging very forcefully through my head - don't know whether the HBOT pushed bacteria/parasites in my brain into different places, or into my central nervous system or what.
Anyways, Dr. C had no idea what this was, and would not even offer an explanation - he has given up treating me because my case has become so complicated. I am now looking for a doctor who treats very aggressively, with abx as well as other therapies, and who has extensive knowledge of lyme and coinfections to tell me what exactly this is. It would be especially helpful if the doctor knew anything about anti-parasitic treatment, or other creative treatment methods such as salt/C in addition to abx, since I am clearly dealing with something more than straightforward lyme Bb. Dr. C is already one of the top doctors in the field, so if he has no idea what is going on with me and cannot even offer an explanation, let alone a treatment plan, you can see that I need the best of the best. Dr. B (of Dr. B's guidelines) no longer treats patients, but I am looking for someone on par with his expertise and creative, aggressive treatment methods. I live in NY, and would be interested in anyone in the NY/CT area. Right now, the most promising options seem to be Dr. H in NY, Dr. L in NY, and Dr. CRJ in CT. Please let me know if you think one of these would be better than the others, or if there are doctors I have not considered yet. Thanks so much for your help.
