Seeking LLMD for initial adult Lyme evaluation following evaluation for many many other conditions by many many other specialists. We seem to have exhausted all other avenues and are desperate for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Thank you to anyone who can help! -Also, willing to travel if necessary to find truly capable specialist.

Also seeking a doctor in the Chicago area, either a very strange case of MS or lyme (?) Hard to believe the latter, but that diagnosis would asnwer so many questions! Thanks and regards, CJD

CJD- sent you a PM. I found no tick on me, no rash, no nothin... just strange symptoms that didn't add up to anything for the drs I was seeing. All of my symptoms made perfect sense to the Lyme dr that I'm seeing!

Thank you so much for all the replies. Have contacted a couple of the recommended docs and they have several month long waits to get in. We are not at all familiar with the process and are not sure how to proceed. No testing has been done yet. Can initial testing be done by a general MD to confirm/rule out lyme and then treatment to follow by an LLMD when available? Is it best to be tested by an LLMD? If so, what tests are the most accurate? I understand the diagnosis is very difficult and co-infections must also be identified, but am wondering about an initial screening to get the ball rolling. So much to learn...thank you very much for any information about the process. Trying to learn it while sick is so difficult. We truly appreciate your help!

My personal opinion would be to wait for the LLMD. I know how frustrating it is to be ill and have to sit and wait helplessly for the dr. But I think you'll end up with more frustration trying to see a dr that does not deal with Lyme.
I tried that route and ended up angry and frustrated. Mainstream drs just don't have a clue about Lyme or the co-infections. One dr flat out told me she didn't have time to research Lyme. She told me she had to be on top of diabetes and heart disease and illnesses that she saw on a daily basis, she didn't have time for a "specialty".
Little does she know, she probably sees more Lyme than some of the other illnesses, she just doesn't know it!
An LLMD is going to look at your symptoms and probably run very specific work-up of labs based on what he/she sees/hears from you in initial exam. I could tell you what my dr ran but then you may have symptoms for something a little different and need a different work-up.
You may get a surprise call and get in a bit earlier too if they have a cancellation. That's what happened to me.
I don't know how your body responds to herbal supplements or homeopathics but you may try some supplements to work on cleaning out your body and getting it as "healthy" as it can be to jump start the process of detoxing die-off if you do end up being treated for Lyme.
I just saw my dr last week, she loves analogies, and she said people that come to her are like gardens. Some people come to her and they are full of weeds and junk and she has to start weeding before she doesn anything else. Others come to her and they tilled and weeded and ready to go, she just needs to provide the right seeds!
So you don't feel to helpless, if you're able to, you might start a bit of the "weeding" ahead of time
Again, this is all just my opinion but from my experience, I think you'll end up less frustrated in the long run if you can wait for the llmd!

dreaming - try to get your regular physician to order a blood test through IGENEX Labs in Palo Alto, CA. You could call IGENEX to get more information.
You would need to get Western Blot #188 & 189 (I think it costs $200). This should get the ball rolling until you get to a LLMD, which is who you must see to get a correct diagnosis.
