You said.. "I'm looking for help deciding whether to see Dr. J in Washington DC."
There are some excellent Lyme docs on the west coast. If the patient is that sick, maybe start there?
Do you need information on those docs? If so, maybe post again using CA, OR or whatever.

Sorry I don't PM message.
```````````````````````````````````````````
You said.. "Did you get better?"
Some people do, some don't. It isn't always the doctor or treating method. Often it is the nature of the beast.
```````````````````````````````````````````` You said.. "Was his treatment the right one?"
Each person is different. What works for one may totally fail for another.
````````````````````````````````````````````` You said.. "I've heard he does not treat on the initial visit. Is this true?"
Most doctors won't. The general protocol, especially with someone who is very sick, is to do a through history, complete exam, order lab tests and wait for results. THEN design a treatment protocol.
````````````````````````````````````````````` You said.. "Any help deciding whether we should go see him would be appreciated. It's a long way away and a lot of time and money for a very sick patient. We'll go if it's worth it."
I would look in your own back yard first. I can't say there is anything more outstanding in DC than there is in CA. And it would be a lot less expensive, time consuming and stress on the patient.

Just wanted to say that I completely agree with the advice given to you above.
If you still want info (patient reports) on Dr. J, let me know and I will send you what I have.
