Hi, I was bitten by a tick several weeks ago and placed on doxycycline by my general practitioner. Since then I have had a couple of reactions that cause my doctor to think I may have contacted the lyme bacteria, the latest being a rash covering both of my arms. He has suggested that I see an infectious disease doctor and gave me the names of two in our area. One is not taking new patients and the other one said they do not deal with tick bites or lyme disease. I was wondering if anyone could give me the names of some doctors in the State of Georgia. Thanks so much.

Infectious Disease doctors are pathetic when it comes to Lyme treatment. Bunch of weasels.

Any chance you could travel?? None in GA .. but tell me which state is closest to you.

PS .. Take photos of the rash !!! Get your face in the photo if possible. Also take one with a ruler or coin next to the rash.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. I can take a photo of my rash, but I'm not sure how to upload that. Just to give you a little more information; I never had the characteristic bullseye rash. I did have a bite that swelled up and turned very red (which has now gone down)and my GP said at that time that it appeared that I did have some kind of immune reaction. About a week later, I had rather intense pain down my neck and across the top of my shoulders, particularly the left one. That went away after a couple of days. This latest episode is with the rash on my arms, but again, is not in the form of a bullseye.
As far as state's near me, the closest ones would be Alabama, South Carolina, or Tennessee, (but of course it would depend on where the doctor is in any one of these states.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Again,
One other thing I'm concerned about. I know that getting antibiotic treatment early is important and my GP did immediately put me on Doxycycline, but I'm only on 200 mg daily and I'm wondering if that is a high enough dosage. I've read that some people were taking as much as 500 mg. daily.

I am being treated by my GP as well. Last year I was on antibiotics for 13 weeks, which I am seeing on this forum is on the short side. I guess I can consider myself fortunate. Anyway I am being treated again and luckily my GP is willing to help me. I just keep up with the treat guidlines to make sure he is treating me corrrectly. Best of luck!

Gale .. it's best to put medical questions in medical where they will be seen.

Not many show up on this forum...including me!! lol

Personally, I would want 200mg twice a day for at least 6 wks for a new bite.

Please read:

sent info for SC and TN
