Looking for a lyme specialist who will be thorough checking and aggressive and who can deal with psychological symptoms also. Want someone who takes our Aetna HMO. We live in Rockland County, NY. My son has only 3 bands showing but have been told to get it treated but we need a good doctor.

Hi I was just diagnosed, tried to find a LLMD who took Aetna also. I have not found anyone that I would go to that does. So I am paying out of pocket, unfortunately I will tell you Aetna really stinks with reimbursement, but a little is better than nothing!

Yeah, Aetna has a strong policy written in over 20 pages stating their stance on Lyme disease. So much of it they took from the CDC and that is the problem. I found it oneline once. If they cover treatment it isn't for very long again per the CDC and IDSA. Thankfully my insurance changed the month my son went on IV's. We still pay doc out of pocket, some labs and all supplements but IV's and nurse care are covered 100%. Do you have babesia? Sometimes Aetna will cover more for babesia so docs can write that. Best of luck,
