Hi - My husband was just recently diagnosed with lyme - we caught it early, but he went to our local primary care doctor for his first visit and now we really need to find a doctor who specializes in Lyme treatment.
Looking for someone in NYC.
Many many thanks!

New here, but may need an LLMD as 1st doctor's ELISA test was neg, and I'm not enthusiastic about my 2nd (where I will try to request the Western Blot). Symptoms are getting worse and I was told by my 1st that it was "stress and anxiety". Some other Lyme symptoms may appear as anxiety, but I didn't think joint pain & facial numbness were stress-related!
No insurance, but most LLMDs don't take it anyway...
Question: if I paid for my own WB test and it were positive, could I then take it back to my 1st (union Free clinic) MD and request antibiotics on that basis?

You need to see a lyme treating doctor who belongs to www.ilads.org
The MD you speak of will not know how to properly treat you. Lyme is a clinical diagnoses.
See the documentary www.underourskin.com You can rent it on NetFlix, buy it or check the website for free screenings in your area.
PM sent with support group info and names.
