I was bitten by a deer tick almost a month ago, and life has been turned upside down. I had horrible pain, numbness, tingling, neurological symptoms. I was admitted to the hospital for several days, and all the tests came back normal. I did a course of antibiotics, but the symptoms are still not gone. I tested negative for Lyme, but seem to have a lot of the symptoms. I want to make sure I'm going to a knowledgeable doctor, and not end up with a chronic condition. I am in the Bethesda, MD area.

Does anyone know of neurological symptoms starting as soon as the first week after the bite? Doctors don't think it could be Lyme since I had neurological symptoms so soon. But I'm not convinced.

Thanks in advance for any help or referrals!

Those doctors are so dumb.

First of all, if you take their stupid tests within 1 month of the bite, you have a 90% chance of getting a false negative.

Secondly, you probably have serious co-infections like Babesia and Bartonella. Bartonella in particular can cause serious neurological conditions very quickly.

You need to see an LLMD. Hopefully others will help you with that.

Good luck. Your life is now changed for a long time. You will find a lot of support on this board.

Thanks for the info. I'm seeing an infectious disease doctor (not LLMD) tomorrow. I'll ask about the co-infections.

Thanks again!

Warning: Infectious disease doctors don't know how to treat or diagnose Lyme or the co-infections. Please don't trust anything they say.

Be careful, because if you insist that you are sick from the tick bite, they might send you to a psychiatrist.

Sent you some doctors' names and some information.

Get with a lyme doctor asap. An infectious disease doctor is not a lyme doctor unfortunately.
