Only as of this weekend do I suspect my son has undiagnosed Lyme's disease, so this is all new and overwhelming to me.
Since early '09, he has been treated with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), but has other symptoms that don't always add up. As soon as the POTS hit, so did the panic disorder. Now we are told that he is displaying schizophrenic behaviors. But even that doesn't totally fit as he has irrational (OCD-like) thoughts, but knows they are irrational and is frustrated by them.
Before July 2008, he was a happy-go-lucky 18 year old fresh out of high school. He has struggled mightily on so many fronts. We left a house with toxic mold three months before he had the "onset" experience that was later diagnosed as POTS. I have always kept that in the back of my mind.
New symptoms and not finding a link between POTS and Schizophrenia (which I am still doubting a little) brought me to check out Lyme's disease. Seems like it might be the missing link here. But I feel like we are on a time crunch since it's been years and I don't want to waste time going to doctors who aren't well-versed in this disease.
We live in Cleveland, Ohio. Any help would be so appreciated.

My son struggled also with the symtpoms your son is going through. We were told to wait until he outgrew POTS after puberty. I kept asking the world renowed POTS cardiologist how could this all be POTS and is there an underlying cause to all of these symptoms. No, we should just wait it out he said. He is so much better and your son can be too if this is Lyme. I will send a PM.
