I am in shock! I have been a patient of Dr. C for a year. I saw him last Friday. Today I received a letter saying he is dropping me. I am HURT..... and scared, since I perceived him as a very LLMD. The letter says his practice is too big. I had recently complained to the staff about not getting papers to get a Bowen Test that the doctor said I could have. Do you think I am being dropped because I may be seen as a "Pest"??
Any suggestions? I am really upset..

Good evening Laczi,

I am so sorry for your bad news...

I have to say that I have known this to happen to others under doc C's care, so you may not want to take it personally.

Please email me if you are needing help in finding a new LLMD.

My best,
Melanie

Oh my! I'm a patient of Dr. C as well (Temple Terrace, right? Cic..n?), have an appointment tomorrow morning. I've been seeing him about the same length of time you have. I can't imagine how asking about paperwork could cause you to be dropped - unless you really raised the roof while doing so! I've caused a ruckus with just every doc's staff I've visited and have never been dropped by them (they might hold me at arms length!ha!).

If the practice is too big then where are they drawing the line? Which patients can be eliminated?

In the year you've seen him have you progressed? Are you currently being treated? Was there future treatment planned? Did they even give you the name of another doctor you could see? Can your GP take over your treatment?

I know when I was looking there was a doc in Clearwater who treated LD (everyone thought he had in the past anyway), Dr. R-somethig. If you'd like, I'd be happy to go through my file and find his name and address and get it to you.

Sorry to butt in here but this really threw me for a loop! I'm so sorry this has happened to you! Please let me know what you've found out.

Here in Pinellas Co. we don't have much support, do we? But, of course, there's no Lyme in Florida (That's what I was told 12 years ago!)

What city to do live in? I'm in St. Pete

Good luck to you!

Hi Rena,
I am at a loss as to why I was dropped. I wrote a letter to him, asking him to reconsider. I was NOT rude or a pest. I live in Sarasota. I have been slowly getting better. We had a plan, that's why I was so shoked to have him suddenly drop me, but his staff might have been annoyed at my asking them to contact Bowen Lab. Dr. C said I could have this test. The staff also cancelled my perscriptions that he gave me last week. They did not give me a lead to another doctor. They sent me a certified letter saying his practice was TOO BIG. My daughter-in-law is to see him today. She is VERY sick and on IV antibiotics. She will ask him about my being dropped, if she gets the chance.
I am still reeling from this news. Laczi

From what you describe, this is a clear case of medical abandonment. You probably couldn't win a suit on this but it is a valid basis for making a written complaint to the ethics board.
I used to live in Tampa and, unfortunately, saw a lot of doctors. I wouldn't give you ten cents for more than 10% of them. I could tell you some stories....

Hi All, To complete this thread, After my daughter-in-law spoke with Dr. C., he wrote me a letter essentially saying that he would be a consulting Dr., but he drops patients that give his office "stress".... that is, I asked them to send paper work for a specific test.... I NEVER questioned their charges to medicare... WHAT DO I CARE>>>>
So, I will be able to use him as a "Consult", but he will order no tests or medications... now I have to find a GP who will follow his suggestions: Not an easy task.
So , be careful how you treat his staff... they are fragile, and you may be dropped from an essentially good doctor..

Boy! I appreciate the heads up about the staff!! I have a tendency to be a little blunt and fairly aggressive if necessary, it's good to know I need to keep it check while there.

Anyway - thank goodness he did agree to something, maybe if you're not able to get a GP or anyone else to treat you he will reconsider. It's a shame that after finally getting someone to treat you something like this happens! I understand supporting your staff but it seems pretty harsh - what about having a talk with a patient the staff feels causes too much stress, with the understanding that if the behavior doesn't stop, he'll no longer treat them.

Good luck to you.

"I NEVER questioned their charges to medicare..."

Is he dropping you and other medicare patients? He may have found it more lucrative to not except Medicare anymore.

I'd contact Medicare and see if there was something that they would know about this.

No every doctor accepts their payments. Just something to think about. I hope you find out soon for your sake, anyway.

Let us know if you find out something, ok?

Rosemary

You must have seen the same idiots we saw telling us there is no Lyme in Florida.

We were seeing Dr. C in Tampa but my son in law was getting progressively worse. We switched to Dr. Crist in Springfield Missouri and ask Dr. C if he would act as consulting and he said no. My My such beig egos they all have

I would be very, very interested in knowing about other doctors in my area. Temple Terrace is a really long drive for me, especially feeling as bad as I do, and I really wouldn't mind getting another opinion if I could.

Thanks for anything you can share. If you can't post a name or something on here and need my e-mail address let me know and I'll give it to you.

Laczitag:

I've been re reading all of the comments about Dr. C in Tampa dropping patients who give his office "stress" Isn't amazing that now his office staff is dictating who get's treatment and who doesn't....

Maybe your better off without the stress they give you .....

It's too bad that office personalities are put before the well being of his patients!
