I have tested positive for band 23 on a western blot two years ago, and recently have been told that this is indicative of Lyme, even though the test said there had to be two positive bands.

I have had many neurological symptoms over the years, but now getting much worse, including constant dizziness, fogginess, memory problems. Have been tested for many causes, all negative.
BTW, I am 65 y.o.

I had ample opportunity to contact Lyme, hiking, beaches, sand dunes, an active outdoor life in eastern Mass., islands, etc. I need to find a doctor who will help me figure out if in fact I do have Lyme and will retest using the best labs. Unfortunately, I have bad reactions to many antibiotics and don't know what I will do for treatment.

Have been reading Steven Buhner's book.
Thank you for any help.

These "bad reactions" to "many antibiotics" may/ MIGHT just be a 'herx' (i.e: Jarsch Herxheimer reaction).

Were you able to tolerate any of them O.K. when you were younger? If so, see above.

Does this "bad reaction" start within 5 to ~20 minutes after you take the med? If NO, see above.

Hope you find a good doc soon. Good luck!

Thank you all for your suggestions. A friend mentioned a doctor in , but I shouldn't write his name. I'm going to see what my insurance will cover, since it is an HMO.
Re: reaction to antibiotics -- this was years ago, I have not taken an ab in many years, but got rashes on arms and stomach, bloody diarrhea, etc. when I did (tetracylcine, ampicillin), and told not to take them as this could lead to anaph. shock.
