I've had symptoms for about a week, and saw my GP on Friday but he wants to wait for my titer test to come back before treating. I want to get a second opinion and maybe a Western blot test if the titer comes back negative.
Can anyone point me to an LLMD in Connecticut via PM?
Thanks very much!

Hi stocker57:
You are about to enter the Lyme controversy both in diagnosing and treating the disease. The titer test is the Elisa which has at least a 35% false negative rate.
If the Elisa is negative the GP will tell you it is not Lyme and look for something else. It takes at least 3 weeks for the antibodies to show up.
The flip side is if he treats you wihtout the positive evidence it is against the "standard of care" set out by the Infectious Disease Society. This opens him up to issues including malpractice.
Your best bet is to see an MD who will prescribe 6 weeks of doxy (I forget the dose but it will be in Dr. B's guideline (see my next post).
With any med you need probiotics, liver clensing (drink plenty of lemon water) and with doxy especially avoid the sun.

It's amazing there is a controversy to this insidious disease and I've found it easiest to show a couple of u tube video's on the controversy.
He is a saint and I show this to help illustrate how MD's have been prosecuted so normal MD's shy away from doing anything but following the flawed IDSA guidelines.
