My husband is terribly ill (lots of neurological problems...stopped going into work 2 months ago)and his blood tests for Lyme have been positive. We've been dealing with non LLMDs in the area and it's beyond frustrating!! I would like to find a LLMD neurologist in southeastern Pa. I'm in Bucks County but willing to travel. TIA!

I sent you a private message with PA info.

It sounds like you need a lyme doctor rather than a neurologist.
Just know that it is virtually impossible to find a neurologist anywhere who is lyme literate.
Since lyme disease is essentially a disease of the nervous system, a lyme doctor is generally all that any lyme patient needs.
If you are willing to travel to D.C., we have a great doctor here.
I understand from others in your area that it is difficult to get good treatment in the Philly, NJ area.
Let me know if you want the name I recommend in D.C. It is about an 8 week wait to get in. After the first appointment, you can do monthly telephone appointments, so it is not like you have to travel to D.C. all the time. Only about twice per year.
Once you get an appointment with a good lyme doc, then contact the lyme support groups in your state (see Support Groups on left side of page) and find out if there are any lyme friendly doctors who can help your hubby while you wait to get in with a true lyme doctor.
Lyme friendly doctors generally take insurance and will give antibiotics for lyme long-term. They know something about lyme disease and believe in chronic lyme, but they aren't an expert in the disease.
Here is a quote for you:
"It is clear that in the great majority of patients, chronic Lyme is a disease affecting predominantly the nervous system."
This is why I say that all lyme patients generally need is a top notch lyme doctor.
I suggest you read and STUDY this document. You will get your education on this disease and you will learn what good lyme disease treatment looks like.
Getting to a top notch lyme doctor gives you the best chance of getting rid of this disease. Many doctors treat lyme disease, but only a few know enough to get rid of it for a person. That is what I learned over my 10 year association with treating this disease.
I had undiagnosed lyme, babesiosis and bartonella for at least 10 years before a doctor thought of testing me for lyme disease.
Then, after the mainstream medical profession threw me away, I found my way to lyme doctors. I went through 2 other doctors before I found one who knew enough to get rid of this horrendous disease for me.
It is now 7 years since I completed my treatment and I am still sympom-free, enjoying my life. I have the same life I had before lyme disease.
But, the doc is the key. Be willing to travel to see the best. And, it will cost you money.
Let me know if I can help you further. I would be happy to do so. That's the main reason I stick around here. To help point people to the best docs so they can get rid of this horrendous disease.

TF, I do have a list of some doctors but as we've been searching for someone I've discovered that yes it is hard to find a good LLMD in SE Pa or NJ (I'm close to NJ). I don't understand why since both states seem to be infested with Lyme & ticks!
I would appreciate it if you could send me the name of the LLMD in DC. Thanks so much!!
