Hi Members, I`m looking for help! I have a Federal worker`s compensation case, my case went to a hearing in Florida last year.
The hearing representitive (she don`t know anything about tick borne disease) had thrown out all my LLMD`s reports and also the reports of the ducks they sent me to.
This sounds stupid but she wants me to see a LLMD with a professorial backround. I received a call today 4/24, it was my claims examiner. She is stumped, she herself said she can not find one.
She asked if I knew of any and if I did to send in his/her name and the Department of Labor, they might take them into consideration for my next disability appointment.
My case has gone on for 4 years now without disability compensation, if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanking anyone in advance who answers to this post.
This is the way the Federal Government treats their employees who become infected on the job, you have to laugh or you will lose it, what`s left. Professorial level HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand this at all. Doctors are "professionals." This hearing rep does not sound professional!
What credentials are they looking for? This sounds crazy to me.
I would explain to the hearing rep who does not understand tick-borne diseases that your Lyme doctor is a professional who treats tick-borne diseases. I am floored that she threw out all documentation from your doctors.
It is ludicrous that you have been fighting this for four years. I highly recommend getting a disability attorney. They only get paid a small percentage if you win.

A professional Lyme literate MD who spends his time seeing patients, would not be spending his time teaching in a university...if that is what she means.
Your LLMD has an MD degree, I would assume....what more does she need???

Hello Members, The hearing rep is under the impression that there is a Professer of Lyme disease out there somewhere.
I do have a Fereral worker`s comp attorney,there is only so much he can do. The U.S. Department of Labor who is handling my case have set guidelines for an injury, but not for an illness.
They are asking me to find a Lyme disease professor, they gave up. This is why my case has been dragged out for 4 years.
Here`s something more crazy, they pay for my meds for my disability, they pay for my LLMD visits for my disability and they pay for my travel to and from my LLMD for my disability but they won`t pay for my disability.
I was infected back in 1992, I filed for disablity retirement in January of 2008; In this time frame I have paid out $33,000 in attornies fees and have not received one cent in disablity compensation.
I am going to ask them if they will send me to Dr. W who just put out the book Treament of CHRONIC Lyme Disease. I already have beeen in touch with him. He stated you think one would be compensated for being infected on the job.
I wrote him back telling him that I am dealing with a total different entity and if he would help me if they allow. I just wrote him today 4/25, so I`ll await his reply.
When I filed for disability my ex-wife filed for divorce, thank God for a good friend who took me in back in 2008. Otherwise I would be living out in the streets with my Daughter but I would have my antibiotics
The Department of Labor wants a new report from my treating LLMD, I do no see him until 5/2. They also want me to provide the names of LLMD`s on the professorial level, I`ll just have to keep searching. If anyone has a name for me or an idea I`m open to listen. I love it - a Lyme disease professor, teaches in the Dept of Lyme Disease. Job reqts: must know everything there is to know about Lyme disease and related infections; some personal experience helps. BS, MS, PhD and MD degrees offered. Related dept: Dept of Coinfections.

Hey Robin, LOL!!! Lymetoo, I am going to inclue their names in my letter to the (DOL), U.S. Department of Labor. Biggest problem is the people who work for the DOL are Federal civilian employees who are not educated to the diseases.
Neither is the hearing rep. As I was told by my Congressman`s secretary the DOL waits until you have one foot in the grave before they act.
My concern is will they allow me to see a doctor who is not in my state. When Dr. J was in S. Carolina, I was seeing him, I live in N. carolina. When Dr. J. moved his office to Washington the DOL would not allow me to see him anymore.
I hope and pray with all the DOL`s frustration about finding a Professorial Lyme Doc that they will allow me to see an out of state LLMD to settle my case for disability.
At times I don`t know what`s worse, dealing with the DOL or dealing with tick borne diseases Be well everyone, I`ll keep ya posted. God have mercy on the Lyme community. POP
