Hello, my 11 year old son was diagnosed with Lyme disease (via blood test) at urgent care this morning and was given amoxicillin and prednisone.
His face looks like a textbook picture of Bells Palsy. He has some aches.
I believe he was bit two weeks ago when I pulled a (non-deer) tick off him but saw no rash. We live in the woods so perhaps an earlier bite went undetected.
I have read that prednisone/cortisteroid use is controversial -- can you help me find a pediatric doctor in Maryland? Thank you!

I sent you a name and lots of info.
Please don't give the prednisone. The bells palsy will go away with good lyme treatment. It may take some time.
When you contact the lyme doctor, please tell them that he was just bitten 2 weeks ago and has bells. They may fit him in instead of making him wait in line. Hope so.
Also, ask to be put on the cancellation list.
These are ways of getting around the long wait that accompanies any good lyme doctor.
