I'm looking for some referrals for a LLMD in central Connecticut, or as close as possible. Please let me know about your experience with the Dr.

Continuous (some days are more intense than others) twitching. Was tested positive for lyme and treated with doxy for 3 weeks then tested again. The Dr. claimed that the infection was gone, but I continue to twitch all over the body and awoken by buzzing sensation for four months. Some cramping/bone aching sensations persist as well. I'm in constant fear of ALS due to internet searching even though I really shouldn't do that.

PM of MD's sent.

It's amazing there is a controversy to this insidious disease and I've found it easiest to show a couple of u tube video's on the controversy.

If you watch this video you can see some of the miss diagnosis.

This is our Lyme doctor. It took us 8+ months, 9 MD's, 2 Children's Hospital's before we started to learn about the controversy and find him.

He is a saint and I show this to help illustrate how MD's have been prosecuted so normal MD's shy away from doing anything but following the flawed IDSA guidelines.

I also am looking for a lyme literate doctor in CT. My dog had lyme disease, and I've been pulling deer ticks off of her lately like it's my job! I normally sleep with my pup in bed, and woke up one morning with a big red rash on my thigh that was warm to the touch and persisted for a week, but no sign of a tick on me, and it didn't look like EM (bullseye rash). My derm said it was probably just an "insect bite", and that lyme would take 3 weeks to get into my blood to test positive. I told her I experienced a low grade fever. She said to call her if I saw other symptoms and she'd put me on 10 day doxycycline.

From what I've read, you don't want to wait for lyme to get into your blood, and even if it does, lyme tests can often come back with false negatives. I also read that 10 days of doxy is insufficient to really kill off lyme bacteria (you should have 14-30 days, and even that doesn't work sometimes). I could just call her and get a 10 day doxy RX, but I worry that would be ineffective, and if my symptoms persist due to insufficient treatment, I will be accused of being "crazy". I want to be treated the right way the FIRST time.

Anyone know who I can see? It's been about three weeks since the rash and my knee began to hurt this morning...I'm in college and at the top of all my classes, so I'd be devastated if Lyme ruined my academic career...
