I have 2 LLMDs in Maryland. Have had good success. I am actually looking for a recommended endocrinologist with good internal medicine background. I have had good treatment for the Lyme and have been rebuilding my body and I think I need a focus that is not so centric on Lyme. I use Dr. F and Dr. S and another Dr. S. Looking for something a bit different. Not on antibiotics for 2 years. Thanks.. Nicki

I recommend Dr. Michael Dempsey in Rockville. He is NOT a lyme doctor. He is an endo/internal med doc.
Years ago, he guessed that I had lyme disease based on interviewing me and examining me. And, he tested me for it. Then, 2 days later he called and told me I was positive and gave me some names of docs to see (ID docs). For 10 years I went from doctor to doctor and nobody tested me for lyme until Dr. Dempsey.
Also, he has been outstanding on the other issues I have gone to him for. He spends time with you, explains things thoroughly, and looks at things other than what you came in for on his own initiative, all because he is so very thorough regarding the patient's health. And, instead of making you come into the office, he will give you a number of slips for tests that he may want later, call you with your test results, call in prescriptions and direct treatment by phone numerous times. Or, he will tell you to call him at various intervals and tell him how you are doing. So, what you pay for one visit is really often equal to about 4 visits with docs who make you come in to talk to them for every little step of the way.
He is expensive and does not take insurance, but it seems to me they will file a claim with your insurance for you. You get a little reimbursement that way.
Also, when I recently researched him on the web, he is classified as being in the top 10% of endocrinologists in the entire country. His partner is in the top 5% of endos in the entire country.
