I am seeking a LLMD in Texas, preferably in or near San Antonio if possible.

My sister-in-law is 25 years old. For several months she has been very sick with swollen lymph nodes, painful joints, confusion, exhaustion, and severe headaches.

I suggested to her that she should ask her doctor about Lyme's. He has been refusing to investigate the reason behind her illness.

He just keeps putting her on short-term antibiotics. She will get better while she's on them and then worse as soon as the course ends. She suggested Lyme's to him and he laughed in her face.

She doesn't know what to do. She is a mom of two very young children and her husband is only home on weekends, due to his job.

She has always been an active person who loves her job as a nurse. But now this illness is making it difficult for her to even keep up with caring for her baby and energetic toddler.

On her behalf, I would deeply appreciate a referral. She needs help, before this gets worse. Thank you so much.

She's in a really bad place for having Lyme. Had I not moved out of state, I know I would never have been diagnosed!

Try this:

~~SUPPORT GROUPS~~

Austin Lyme Support Group
DFW Lyme Disease Support Group (Formerly known as: Metroplex Lyme Support Group)
Houston Lyme Disease Support Group
San Antonio Lyme Disease Support Group

http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/Texas/

Another contact for finding a LLMD is the Texas LD Assoc: http://www.txlda.org/

Join your online state support group at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/texaslyme
Contact the Support Groups above to inquire about Drs. These groups have a lot of knowledge and experience with Drs. in your area.

-

I would google the names of the above support groups and also look for them on Facebook. I can give you the name of a Dr about 2-3 hrs north of you.

The support groups can tell you about Drs in the area who are willing to treat.

Please send this to her!

Lymetoo gave you some great resources.

Here are a few more:

http://www.lyme-aware.org/texas.html

www.ilads.org
www.lymediseaseassociation.org

Once you get some names, write a new post in "Seeking a Doctor" to ask for personal references. This way, your SIL will find the right doctor to give you the correct treatment.

I also recommend you both watch the DVD, "Under Our Skin", for free on www.hulu.com and read the book, Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub (check your local library or get it used on Amazon).

Thank you all so much! These are great resources. I will pass on the info and recommendations to my sister-in-law. I cannot thank you all enough.

I personally know seven people from all over the U.S. whose bodies have been ravaged by severe chronic Lyme. Thank you guys for everything you do to help people get treatment before it gets to that point.
