Looking for a Lyme literate psychiatrist & therapist in the Washington DC metro area to include Virginia, Maryland, and willing to drive further.

I have been in treatment for Lyme for over a year. I went from working part time to bedridden over the past year.

I have untreated severe depression and anxiety. Hope to find a psychiatrist good at medication management who also does psychotherapy or can refer me to a therapist.

[confused]

Thank you,
Jen

I don't know of any lyme literate psychiatrist. There used to be one in Pennsylvania, but she has since retired.

I don't think such a person exists now. I know a few excellent psychiatrists (both very expensive) in the D.C. area. Send me a private message if you want their names. Just click on the envelope icon above my post.

If it were me, I would go for a top notch lyme doctor and hopefully good lyme treatment would do wonders for the depression and lyme-induced anxiety. So, that is my suggestion. Lyme causes these psychiatric problems, and excellent lyme and coinfection treatment gets rid of them.

Obviously, your current treatment is inadequate so your disease is continuing to progress. With a top lyme doc, this will all turn around. In 4 months, you could be doing so much better!
