I've been suffering with athritis like pain since 2008, and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I recently went for blood work and asked my DR to test me for lyme disease, test came but Negative BUT IgM p23 Ab present. I think something is not right, and want to ensure I don't have underlying lyme disease.

Thanks for you help!!

You have lyme disease. A positive band 23 plus your symptoms make the diagnosis certain. Your arthritis-like pain is known as lyme arthritis.

Read this write-up by a lyme specialist (doctor who specializes in lyme disease), and you will see:

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/42077

The CDC does not consider your test positive, but you are.

I strongly suggest you read through the Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines to get a better understanding of this disease.

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

A bad case of fibromyalgia is nearly always lyme disease. The lyme doctor who cured me was diagnosed with fibro for years. Then, he learned about lyme and cured himself and all of his fibro patients with lyme treatment. He said 100% of his fibro patients tested positive for lyme! (Not using the ridiculous CDC criteria, but the criteria the lyme doctors use.)

So, you need a lyme doctor. Sorry to tell you but the lyme doctors in NJ are not getting people well. This is the opinion of many lyme patients in your state. See these posts:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/22550?

If you want to go to a top notch lyme doctor and get great lyme treatment, and get your life back, I can recommend one in Washington, D.C. She will do telephone appointments after the first in-person appointment. So, you only have to travel to D.C. once or twice per year.

2 month wait to get in.

You can contact the lyme support groups in your state for names of doctors to see in the meantime, if you want to. See Support Groups on left side of page.

However, just know that it is very, very expensive to have the first appointment with a lyme specialist. So, if you only have enough money for one doctor, make it the top notch D.C. doctor.

Send me a private message if you want the name of the doc. Just click on the envelope icon above my post.

TF, I live in NJ and just because a few people here have not had any luck with doctors here in NJ, it doesn't mean there are no good ones. I know of two that are top notch and I have pmed in10city. As you can see, I've been around here since 2001 and I found my present dr in 2009 and I highly recommend her.
