I have the name of one LLMD in *** - but also seems to be a concierge practice with an annual fee in addition to cost of visits, which is a bit much for me. :-(
I've wrapped my brain around paying out of pocket for the doc visits... but I'm a lower income single mom. So I can't afford an annual fee.
I have a lyme friendly doctor now, but worry I need more and want to get on the right track.
If you know of anyone close by and happen to know how much they cost - that would be so great!

You are right that a lyme friendly doctor won't get you well.
I don't recommend the lyme practice you are considering--not at all. They give very low doses of meds, and usually just one at a time. In addition, all of the doctors or other staff are new, very new, to treating lyme disease. They don't know anything!
The only one who is not new is the founding doctor. But again, he is a believer in low dosing of meds. So, that is how he has everyone in his practice treating people.
If you want aggressive treatment (like the Burrascano protocol) this is not the office for you.
First you have to decide how you want treated. Then, find a doctor who treats the way you want.
If you want Burrascano type treatment, send me a private message and I will give you a few names. They don't have annual fees, just the normal high first appointment cost. I can tell you what they cost also. They are both very near to you.
Everyone new to lyme must realize that there is no standard treatment for lyme disease once you leave the "medical establishment" which follows the IDSA guidelines. So, you can waste a lot of money getting all different kinds of treatment if you just pick from a list of lyme doctors names.
So, decide how you want treated and then post for that kind of doctor.

I disagree with TF. I am a patient of the DR in the practice and have been treated with many combos. Right now I am dealing with mold, which he helped me discover I had in my home. We believe it is currently keeping me from remission.
There is another doctor and a nurse practitioner in the practice. I do not believe you have to pay the extra fee to see either of them, and this DR oversees their patients.
A few years ago he brought in a new doc who was a disaster. I went backwards when I had to see her. She's long gone now and the new team seems to be strong.

I also spent a year with this Dr's practice in Reston, but only have recovered about 50%.
I saw the other doctor in the practice and she is a terrible communicator -- her emails are incoherent, and she is condescending and cold in person.
I also never got the sense that she had her own ideas ... she speaks in generalities, has trouble answering questions with specifics, and seems to "parrot" others' ideas.
Like Lymednva, I was treated with multiple antibiotics simultaneously (five toward the end).

That is only to see the DR.** Because I have been with him since before he was Lyme Literate, and have a complicated long-term (over 40 years) case I feel I need to stick with him, so I pay the fee.
