Does anyone have any experience with Tai Sophia in Maryland? I have been referred there for my son's lyme treatments but have not found any testimonials. It is now called Maryland Institute of Integrated Health. They are Eastern Medicine practioners. thank you

You son needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non-LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

Chronic Lyme Disease and Co-infections: Clinical Overview - 14 page pdf
This was written many years ago so you might ask if she has newer thoughts / ideas / articles / suggestions. Does she keep up with ILADS?
Also ask at all area support groups. -

- You may need to look no further if you find her or someone of equal expertise. However, to better acquaint yourself with this "area" and the range of articles / books, here is a reference set for you.
When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods:
if at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL ND (lyme literate naturopathic doctor) (or similar) who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present, and has completed the ILADS Physician Training Program (see: www.ilads.org )
Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.
When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.
Be aware that integrative doctors can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, perhaps even just a short course. Do ask first. Some have learned on their own from experts in the field. There are many ways to acquire knowledge and most are eager to share basic details about their training. You want someone with a deep knowledge.
Some of the specialities above may not actually treat lyme yet, for things such as physical adjustments, it is just good that they are also LL, at least to some degree (to know never to suddenly twist the neck or spine).
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches.
BASIC HERBAL EDUCATIONAL & SAFETY links,
BODY WORK links with safety tailored to lyme patients,
& WHY you need an ILADS-educated, Lyme Literate Doctor (whether LLMD or LL ND, or both) -

Make sure you find some "happy satisfied customers" before proceeding.

Well, this place is a few miles from my home, and I have never heard of it and never met anyone who went there. I have talked with hundreds or thousands of lyme patients over the last 10 years, including over 4,700 private messages through LymeNet.
Also, the herbalist that Keebler refers to--I have never heard from a single lyme patient who has gone to her.
I know every lyme doctor in Maryland and the surrounding area, and yet I know nothing of her.
I looked through the paper she wrote on lyme disease (Keebler's link) and I am not impressed. It is just a summary of common knowledge of lyme and the herbs she will use on a lyme patient.
Is this what you want?
Did your son see DNP S? She is the best in the area and one of the top docs on the east coast.

yes he saw that nurse practitioner. She is a wonderful woman but after he was getting more ill with his treatments, she did a 23andme test and based on those results, suggested he get another set of eyes on him. She said he is probably 1 in 5 % that just can't detox, as is herself. My thought of Tai Sophia was that Eastern Medicine might help where Western was too severe on his body

You need someone who is an expert on detoxification. I would pair that person with DNP S. That, to me, would be a winning combination.
The detox expert needs to be local because you will likely go to that person weekly or 2-3 times per week.
I would contact your local lyme support groups (see "Support Groups" on left side of page) to find out who is really, really good for detox in your area.
I had a friend who got sicker and sicker on her lyme treatment because she could not detox. Then, she went to an Ayurvedic medicine doctor who tested her and told her she hadn't yet detoxed from shots she had gotten years ago! He detoxified her and in 3 months she was writing to every person on her email address book telling us how great she felt and how she was well.
Dr. H in NY has detox protocols for his lyme patients. In fact, he now gives everyone an IV of glutathione when they come in for their first appointment. Those who have difficulty detoxifying feel better before they leave the office! They rave about how good it makes them feel. So, that is how he identifies those who need help detoxifying.
Per Dr. H, glutathione opens the detox pathways.
This is what he said on the subject in a 2010 lyme conference:
Herxheimer reaction:
Take-home message: DETOXIFY YOUR LYME PATIENTS!
It does NOT matter what antibiotic you give people, they will NOT get better without detoxification
For Herxheimer reactions: 2 Alka-Selzer Gold (no aluminum) in 8 ounces of water with lemon or lime followed by 6-8 capsules of glutathione or 1500 mg of oral liposomal glutathione.
70% will feel better in hours
On the topic of water: Dilution is the solution to pollution. This suggests that in order to help our bodies detoxify, we must drink more water
And, this is the protocol he was giving out a few months ago:
Try 1st: --Burbur, 10 drops every 10 minutes for 2-3 hours or 10 days until flare resolves --Parsley (same as burbur) --Lemon/lime in H2O sipped through straw 4x/day --Alka seltzer gold OTC or sodium bicarb 4x/day
If above doesn't help, add:
Oral glutathione (Essential Pro) 6-8 caps at once, repeat as needed, up to 3x/day
If no help w/above steps, try: --Pekana drainage 15 drops of each bottle 3x/day --Sydetox 15 drops 2x/day --LDN, as prescribed at bedtime
Some people need glutathione suppositories. They are evidently the most effective, right below the IV for effectiveness.
Once you get someone to help with the detox, you should be able to handle conventional lyme treatment.

I agree. You could also look into the Magnesium Advocacy Group on Facebook for awesome information. They even cover MTHFR and other detox problems.

But for the herbal parts of the programs it seems it's good even by the ones who posted how poor it was for acupuncture teachings. ?? Questionable.... referances
