My son was diagnosed with Lyme about a month ago. He's now on his 3rd different antibiotic and he still feels awful. His pediatrician is referring him to a Rheumatologist but a friend of mine who is currently recovering from Lyme Disease suggested to see a LLD. Funny how I live not too far from LYME, CT.

I'm looking for doctors near me and I am so brand new to this site it's a miracle I'm able to post this if it posts. I do not know how to use this kind of discussion group things so please be patient and please help me to help my son because he's missed sooo much school they are giving me a hard time. I think he's had it for awhile too .. maybe one year.
Thank you.

Welcome to Lymenet! You've come to the right place. When you get some names, write a new post in "Seeking a Doctor" and title it "Need Feedback on Dr. (last name initial only) in CT" (no cities/towns mentioned), per Lymenet rules.

We will help you and you'll learn in the process as we all did in the beginning and still continue to do so. Read and research all you can here on Lymenet. It's a great source of information.

I sent you a private message (pm) with information for CT which you can access by clicking on the flashing message in the upper left-hand side under your Lymenet name telling you "you have 1 unread message", etc.

I suggest you change the title of your post into "Looking for a Lyme-literate pediatrician in CT". You can do this by clicking on the pencil and paper icon, making the change, then clicking "Edit post".

Your dear son needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

When calling any doctor's office for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have gotten in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/connecticutlyme

Maybe they can help.

Another resource:
www.lyme-aware.org/connecticut.html

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.
