I am new to this forum. I a need doc referral in northern jersey stat for my husband's possibly undiagnosed lymes from a few years ago. Prefer someone who can see him quickly as he has been running a fever for 7 days with chronic, up all night joint pain and exhaustion. The last time he had these symptoms was 2011.
I sent him for a Lymes test at a local hospital ER at the time, but they never called and he never checked the results, as his symptoms resolved at that time so he assume he had some sort of viral flu.
He often works outside at our Long Island home in the woods, and though he basically bathes in DEET, of course there are myriad deer ticks (deer roam free all around our home) and they are super small. He never found a bullseye or any rash at that time or now, however, he often has joint pain in the knees, shoulders, neck, etc.
As rhumatoid arthritis and Sjogrens Syndrome are in his family history (which his sister has and which manifests with Lupus/MS-like symptoms, joint pain, much more - none of which he has besides the joint pain), he assumes he is developing arthritis (at age 42). I disagree.
Many thanks for any help and insight. Also please advise which test we should insist upon. Western Blot? Something else? All I know from reading is that the ELISA is inferior.

Media Mom... I did send you some info. Could you copy and paste this over to Medical Questions so you can get some feedback on your questions??
I can move it for you, but then you would want to put a new request for finding a Dr here in Seeking.
You are correct that the ELISA is inferior, but you could do that in case it does come back positive. You can take a positive to the bank. A negative means little.
Testing for the Western Blot should be done with Igenex lab.
Your husband's family members need to be tested also!!
