Hello
I am seeking an LLMD physician in Austin, if not, Houston, then DFW, then where ever.
I was bitten by a tick on 3/24/15 and have started exhibiting a lot of the symptoms of Lyme.
I need help in the treatment.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Vic

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for TX.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner to see a LLMD by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/TexasLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

Thought I would post what's happening to me.
I am an older male, just retired in great health, well, I was, anyway before this incident.
On 3/24/15, unknown to me I must have gotten bit by a tick in the groin area. I was cleaning out some brush on the coast, south of Houston. I developed a mole like lesion, 2 mm high by 2 mm around. Very red. Thought it was an ingrown hair. In about 4 weeks I started feeling numbness in my hands and arms. I attributed it to doing so much manual labor on the property. Little by little I became fatigued, losing strength. This past week, I became incontinent and fell down twice. Next day I went to the Local Dr. He ran a large number of blood and urine tests, all were in range or negative. My brother, an MD, had run across Lyme before. When I told him about the possible tick bite, he told me to mention it to the Dr. And have the Lyme tests run immediately.
By this time, I was having pain and tingling just below my buttocks and below my calls (Achilles, I suppose).
The biceps tendon in my right arm has tightened considerably, I have doing stretching therapy for it.
Loss of appetite, had lost 5 pounds and had not even noticed it, but I just did not "want" to eat. My neck was starting to "crunch". Make noise when I moved it. It had never done that. Very, very fatigued, no desire to do anything.
On my brother's advice I researched Lyme and was ready to discuss with my GP. He was very understanding, but did not believe I had Lyme, he thought it was Rheumatoid Arthritis.
But nevertheless, he listened to me and put me on Amoxicillin.
The Dr initially put on 500mg of imoxicillin three times a day before receiving the lab results. Still have not received the Lyme test results. After the blood tests and after doing a lot of reading, the Dr. Put me on 200mg of Doxycicline twice a day.
I have been taking the antibiotics for five days. I definitely "feel" better. Have better energy. I am actually "hungry" for a meal.
But still need to be examined by an LLMD.

Please PM any Drs. Treating and familiar with Lyme in the Austin or vicinity area. San Anton, Houston, DFW, etc.
Or anywhere I need to go, I will go. This is a terrible feeling

Thank you in advance.

You're very welcome - glad to help.

Here is some good information for you to read:

"More Ways to Find a Doctor and Why You Need a LLMD"
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=013239;p=0

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.

In order to do that, click on the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click on "Edit post".
