My father has been suffering from Lyme Disease for the past two months and his symptoms are progressing rapidly.
He's pain, paralysis and electric jolts have made him unable to walk. He has no feeling in his arms or hands. He can't make complete sentences.
We have been to 10 doctors with 5 ER visits. He is on his 2nd month of oral antibiotics ( which I had to beg to get) and all the docs say he had lyme disease but he doesn't any more and just refer him to different doctors.
He symptoms are neurological and progressing daily. I need to find a doctor that will give him IV antibiotics as he appears to be in the late stage with severe neuropathy and paralysis and cognitive decline.
Please message me with any advice at all. I just cannot seem to find him treatment anywhere. We are in Houston but we are willing to travel.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent with names for doctors in other states.
Your dear Dad needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Please read the following about LLMDs and Texas which was recently posted about TX:
"Texas is not a great place to find a good Lyme doctor. Texas threatens its Lyme doctors and gets them to move or stop practicing without notice.
Then, if they start up again a year or so later, they do it to them again. So, there really are few Lyme doctors there and no top notch ones.
Because of the sorry state of affairs in Texas, many folks from Texas are coming to the D.C. area for testing and treatment for Lyme disease and it's co-infections.
Everyone is very happy with him and he follows the Burrascano protocol. Burrascano was the Lyme Disease pioneer and the #1 Lyme doctor in the world before he retired a few years ago. Patients came from every country to be treated by him.
The doc I recommend can see you in a few weeks and I don't think you would regret it. After the first in person visit, you can do telephone or Skype appointments with him monthly. So, there would be little travel involved, only a few times per year.
At least half of all Lyme patients travel out of state for their care. The doc is the key to the diagnosis and for getting rid of this horrendous disease. I can't emphasize that enough-the doc is the key.
This is what I wrote to another Texan in Sept. Look at the following thread to see all of our discussion:
Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.
To do this. click the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.

I second that Tx is not a good place to get treated for Lyme. Sending you a PM with a LLMD recommendation.

Can you travel outside of TX? TX is extra bad when it comes to Lyme treatment. If you can travel outside of tx, I recommend doing so and have a recommendation I can send you.
I don't want to see you get super sub-par And/or incorrect treatment and have the disease progress more.

I can travel outside TX, but not often as I have a young teen at home and husband that travels with his job. symptoms escalating and docs here want to refer me based on the symptoms. Treating symptoms isn't going to get me well, but docs here don't know what else to do.
