I've had Lyme for 18 years now. I was originally diagnosed by a wonderful doc on Long Island who doesn't see patients anymore. Then I saw another wonderful LLMD in NYC. NOW, though, I am in the Charlotte area of North Carolina, and cannot continue going back up to NY! Does anyone have any info??? Thanks so much!

Hey there Mush,
Boy, oh boy! Almost two decades with Lyme. That sucks! Sorry you have had so much trouble and the misery that comes with the stinky little tick gift you unwillingly received years ago.
So, you've finally had to cut the umbilical cord to the good doctors, eh? That's a hard thing to do (I know!), especially when you've got good ones. Hoping you can get some help in the south!
If you go to www.MarylandLyme.org you will see a Doctor Referral listing on the menu to your left.
That will give you contact information for Lyme literate traditional, natural and other kinds of health care providers from NC and all states near and far that have them.
Hope you find someone wonderful to help you! You certainly deserve the best!
You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
Btw - I know you are new to Lymenet, but please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme.
To do this click the pencil/paper icon, make your changes, then click "Edit Post". Thanks.
