My daughter had a CD57 low result (7, normal range: 60-360), but tests negative for tick borne illnesses by Tick-Borne Aby Panel and Tick-Borne PCR panel. She was bit by a tick last spring and treated with Amoxicillin for 10 days. She was recently tested CD57 at Lab Corp.

She has to have heart surgery, and we need her constant low grade fevers to be resolved prior to surgery. She has had them over the last 3 months. Please advise a good LLMD in the metro area. We are located in Cottage Grove, but willing to travel.

Thank you!

I was hoping any where in the twin cities area, but am finding it hard to find an LLMD accepting new patients. So, I think I need to be more flexible and am expanding my search. Since we are in Cottage Grove, MN we are quite close to Wisconsin. I’d like to keep the travel within 2-3 hours (middle of WI, Spooner-WI, Duluth- MN, Brainerd-MN, Western, Eastern and Southern- MN.)

Welcome to Lymenet! PM Sent for MN.

Your daughter needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. She needs to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When you call for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in earlier by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/MinnesotaLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Here are some links for you with good information about Lyme and children:

Here is a link for a book titled, "When Your Child Has Lyme Disease: A Parent's Survival Guide" which also might be helpful:

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and his new one, "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check the local library or buy it used on Amazon.
