Does anybody have any information about Dr. J in Chico? My son has Lyme and is trying to make a decision about Doctors in Northern California.

i have heard of dr. J and his various types of treatment-I don't know that I agree with some of it but I know that he is honest in his percentages of patients that try alternative treatments and get better. Dr. S in SF is GREAT and dr. G in palo alto is amazing! If you want more info e-mails me or send me a message. Finding a lyme doc can be hard and there is no real way to change that. You just have to do as much research as possible!

I am unclear about his "various types of treatments." I am a patient of Dr. J and I am doing straight up ABX--started with Mepron/zith to clear up the babs and now doing cyst busting combo for the lyme.
I have been diagnosed since 1991. I have many years of symptom free, I keep relapsing. I have been around the block and had LLMDs from both coasts and the middle. Dr J and his team are some of the best I have had.
Very kind, caring and knowledgable. Staff is great and on top of things. Got my zithromax mail order down to a 10 dollar copay! NO OTHER doc or act of God could do this for months prior to.
They are also some of the LEAST expensive LLMDs in California.
And on the board at ILADS.
Can I say those things here? If I cant, somebody PM me pleez!

Hi Karen. Glad you found your way here. There's a wealth of information!
I'm Dr. J's patient also, have been treating with him for 9 months for neuroborreliosis.
The most radical thing he's suggested to me so far OTHER than antibiotics is Theralac, a probiotic, which was widely praised at the ILADS conference, and turns out to be a real gem.
They are very compassionate and responsive to patient needs. I email or fax them and get responses the same day or the next if it's late. They hoard samples for me of meds my insurance refuses to cover and Express Mail them to me. I feel like I'm seeing old friends when I go in.
I have yet to be charged for any questions or faxes.
I feel very lucky to be within an hour and a half drive!
